Environmental Stewardship

The Navy manages its air and sea ranges, facilities, and natural resources as integrated training range complexes to be able to meet its current and future requirements while protecting natural and cultural resources and minimizing effects to the environment. The Navy’s approach to the GOA TMAA is no different.

As a responsible environmental steward, the U.S. Navy is concerned about the potential effects of its operations on the environment and is committed to complying with all applicable federal laws, regulations, and policies. The Navy is actively engaged in research to better understand the potential effects of its activities on the environment and to ensure that Navy policy and compliance are science-based.

The Navy Wants Your Input

Public involvement is a fundamental part of the EIS/OEIS development and the Navy wants and appreciates your comments. The Navy has established several venues and informational resource areas for the public to learn more and provide input.

The Draft EIS/OEIS is available for public review on this Web site and in designated public libraries. Public comments on the Draft EIS/OIES were accepted on this website, by mail, and at public hearings held in January of 2010 at various locations in Alaska. Comments on the draft EIS/OEIS will be addressed in the Final EIS/OEIS. The Final EIS/OEIS will be available for public review on this website and in designated public libraries later this year.
